WHAT IS KARATE ?
Karate meaning ''empty hand'' is a form of unarmed combat, originating in Japan, passed down through the centuries.
''The way for all'' was develpoed by the late Master Kimura utilising body mechanics to form powerful and effective technique
WHAT DOES A CLASS INVOLVE ?
A typical class starts with a thorough warm up. Students are taught basic punches, kicks, blocks and stances. This builds into combinations, kata and sparring. The session might finish with padwork and an excersise session and finally cool down. Classes are enjoyable but strictly controlled
WHAT DO I WEAR ?
Initially a loose T-shirt and tracksuit trousers
Student progress through a grading system of coloured belts. Students should grade initially about every 3 months based on training twice per week.
WHAT IS THE COST ?
There are no memberships fees and the first lesson is free to all students. Students will however need to take out a licence but then the next 4 lessons are free and a free karate gi is then provided. Lessons are then conducted on a pay as you go basis with discounts for families. A pay monthly option is available if students prefer.
